Design for Recycling

Packaging recyclability will be assessed against harmonised Design for Recycling criteria. The complete packaging system matters, including the label facestock, adhesive and printing.

Recycled Content

PPWR introduces minimum recycled-content requirements for specified plastic packaging. Plastic parts below the 5% weight threshold may be exempt under Article 7.

Reuse & Refill

For reusable packaging, the label may need to remain functional through repeated use or work with defined washing and removal processes.

EPR & Substances

Packaging recyclability performance will influence future EPR fee modulation. PPWR also restricts PFAS above specified limits in food-contact packaging.
